China Officials to Brief on Economic Policy Implementation Tuesday – Reuters

Senior officials from China’s primary economic planning agency are scheduled to update reporters on Tuesday regarding initiatives aimed at bolstering economic growth, according to a notice from the State Council Information Office.

The briefing will feature five officials, including Zheng Shanjie, the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

The focus of the conference will be on “systematically implementing a package of incremental policies to solidly promote economic growth, structural optimization, and sustained development momentum.” The announcement did not provide additional specifics.

Tuesday marks the first working day in China following a series of holidays over the past week, which included National Day.

Prior to the holiday, the central bank of China had reduced interest rates and added liquidity to the banking system. Additionally, regulators eased certain property restrictions as part of a set of stimulus measures that resulted in a surge in stock prices.
