Colombian Bitcoiner Seeks to Orange-Pill Coffee Lovers One Bean at a Time

José Luis Garcia is a coffee enthusiast and entrepreneur aiming to make his mark in Medellín, the heart of Colombia’s modern coffee industry.

Since launching his start-up, Lightning Koffee, in October, Garcia is focused on two main goals: crafting a great cup of coffee and promoting the adoption of Bitcoin.

Colombia has seen some progress with cryptocurrency, but many locals have yet to embrace its potential fully. Currently, there are 106 stores in the country that accept Bitcoin, reflecting a growing interest in digital currency amidst traditional practices.

Garcia’s efforts highlight an intersection of coffee culture and technological advancement as he works to educate and inspire his community in Medellín.
