U.S. Set to Announce Suspension of INF Treaty Compliance: Officials by Reuters
The United States is set to announce the suspension of its compliance with the U.S.-Russian Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, according to four U.S. officials.
Three of the officials, who requested anonymity, indicated that this announcement will initiate a six-month countdown towards a potential U.S. withdrawal from the treaty. Nonetheless, Washington has the option to refrain from withdrawing if Moscow adheres to the arms control agreement during this period. Russia has consistently denied any violations of the 1987 treaty.
