U.S. Stocks Show Little Movement as Consumer Sales Fall Short
NEW YORK, June 4 (Reuters) – U.S. stocks saw minimal changes on Thursday, with the Dow dipping slightly as consumer sectors experienced a decline following disappointing May sales figures from several retailers.

Consumer spending figures were lackluster, and while data indicated a decrease in jobless claims alongside a rise in productivity, the overall economic outlook remained mixed.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 7.66 points, or 0.09 percent, settling at 8,667.62. Meanwhile, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose by 0.73 points, or 0.08 percent, to reach 932.49. The Nasdaq Composite Index experienced a gain of 5.57 points, or 0.31 percent, closing at 1,831.49.
