DeFi Aggregator Zapper Expands Support for Polkadot’s Moonbeam Parachain
Zapper, a DeFi aggregator and portfolio management tool, has announced its support for the Moonbeam Network as part of its efforts to expand its offerings within the ecosystem.
The platform allows users to monitor the wallet activities of their favorite collectors, adding a social dimension to the typically data-intensive process of on-chain monitoring. Additionally, Zapper enables users to manage and cultivate yields from various decentralized finance (DeFi) projects.
By integrating with Moonbeam, Zapper enhances its presence in the Polkadot ecosystem, simplifying user interactions with cross-chain assets and applications. This development follows Zapper’s launch of indexing templates designed to streamline the process of indexing on-chain data, making blockchain information more accessible to users without requiring advanced coding skills. Users can now manage their Moonbeam assets through Zapper’s comprehensive interface.
Founded in 2020, Zapper successfully raised $15 million in its Series A funding round, backed by prominent investors including Framework Ventures, Mark Cuban, and Sound Ventures, co-founded by Ashton Kutcher.
Moonbeam is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform that provides an EVM implementation and a Web3-compatible API, allowing developers to easily deploy existing Solidity smart contracts and DApp frontends with minor adjustments. This compatibility enhances interoperability among Polkadot, Cosmos, and other blockchain networks.
As a parachain on the Polkadot network, Moonbeam leverages the shared security provided by the Polkadot relay chain and can connect with other chains associated with Polkadot. Its cross-chain messaging features equip developers to build decentralized applications (dApps) that can operate across multiple networks.
The protocol is developed by PureStake, a team that has also created developer tools for Algorand and manages Polkadot validators. Work on the Moonbeam project commenced in early 2020, with strong support from the Moonbeam Foundation.
The Moonbeam ecosystem currently consists of three networks. Moonbeam operates as the EVM-compatible parachain within Polkadot, while its sister network, Moonriver, launched as a parachain on Kusama in June 2021. Both networks share closely related technology, with Moonriver often receiving new features ahead of their deployment on Moonbeam. They both utilize a shared testnet called Moonrock.
