China’s Manufacturing Activity Experiences Fifth Consecutive Month of Decline
Beijing – Recent data indicates that China’s manufacturing sector contracted for the fifth consecutive month in September, although the decline was at a slower rate compared to August, according to an official factory survey released on Monday.
The official purchasing managers’ index (PMI) rose to 49.8 in September from 49.1 in August. While this improvement is notable, the index remains below the crucial level of 50 that separates growth from contraction. Furthermore, the September figure surpassed the median forecast of 49.5 predicted in a recent poll.
