Dutch Police Shoot and Kill Gunman Near Central Bank, Reports Reuters

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Dutch police announced on Wednesday that they shot and killed a man behind the central bank in Amsterdam after he threatened them with a firearm.

The officers were responding to reports of a man with a gun on a nearby street when the individual approached them while armed. He sustained fatal injuries, and a bystander was also injured in the encounter, according to a police statement.

Local news reports indicated that approximately 20 shots were fired, with images showing ambulances at the scene.

Authorities have cordoned off the area, and the incident, which took place around 7:15 p.m., is currently under investigation.
