EU Approves Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s $14 Billion Juniper Deal, Reports Reuters

The European Commission announced on Thursday that it has granted unconditional approval for Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s $14 billion acquisition of networking equipment manufacturer Juniper Networks.

The Commission’s investigation revealed that the merger would not significantly harm competition in the markets for wireless local area network equipment, access points, Ethernet campus switches, and datacenter switches. They noted that the combined company’s market share would remain moderate and that it would continue to encounter competition from a broad range of rivals.

Sources familiar with the situation indicated earlier this week that HPE was expected to receive approval for the deal, which was initially announced in January.

This acquisition highlights the urgency among companies to enhance and innovate their products in response to the growing demand for artificial intelligence-driven services. Additionally, the deal is currently under review by the UK competition authority, with a decision anticipated by August 14.
