Ex-Ivory Coast President Gbagbo Released on Conditional Terms to Belgium: Court By Reuters

AMSTERDAM – The International Criminal Court announced on Tuesday that former Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo is now in Belgium following his conditional release.

Gbagbo was acquitted of charges related to atrocities by the court in The Hague last month, but he remained in custody until a Friday ruling by an appeals court that authorized his release. A spokesperson for the court has confirmed that he has now relocated to Belgium.

The terms of Gbagbo’s release stipulate that he must agree to return to court if summoned in relation to an impending appeal from prosecutors.
