First-Ever Satoshi Nakamoto Monument Celebrates 3-Year Anniversary: Details from U.Today

Today marks a significant moment in cryptocurrency history as Budapest, Hungary, celebrates the third anniversary of the world’s first statue dedicated to Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin (BTC). Unveiled in 2021, this monument was crafted by the talented sculptors Gergely Réka and Tamás Gilly.

The sculpture depicts the upper half of a figure with a reflective face obscured by a hoodie adorned with the Bitcoin logo. It captures the essence of the idea that “we are all Satoshi,” conveying the belief that innovation and progress are collective endeavors.

Supported by prominent Hungarian cryptocurrency advocates, including Mr. Coin, Kripto Akademia, the Blockchain Hungary Association, and Blockchain Budapest, the “Statue of Satoshi” stands as a powerful emblem of the collaborative spirit that drives technological advancement.

Remarkably, this is the only known monument to Satoshi Nakamoto, despite Bitcoin’s status as a trillion-dollar asset that has spawned a new financial market valued at around $2 trillion, significantly enriching many individuals.

Looking ahead, another important event for Bitcoin and Nakamoto is approaching at the end of October, marking 16 years since the release of the Bitcoin Whitepaper, the foundational document detailing the concepts and technologies behind the first cryptocurrency.

In a related development, Hungary has recently enacted a new law regarding crypto assets, aligning its national legal framework with the European Union’s regulations known as MiCA. This legislation addresses the issuance, offering, and trading of crypto assets, as well as the oversight and enforcement of regulations pertaining to crypto asset service providers.
