Former CIA Officer Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Spying for China, Reports Reuters
A former CIA officer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to espionage for China, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 71, entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors in May, admitting to conspiring to collect and transmit national defense information to China.
Ma served with the CIA from 1982 to 1989 and collaborated with a deceased relative who was also a CIA employee. The two were approached by Chinese intelligence officers in March 2001 and provided a significant amount of classified defense information in exchange for $50,000.
