Former MAS Chair Who Deemed Crypto ‘Highly Risky’ Wins Singapore’s Presidential Race
Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the former chair of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, has been elected as the president of Singapore, securing over 70% of the votes.
On September 2, reports indicated that Shanmugaratnam triumphed over presidential rivals Ng Kok Song and Tan Kin Lian, obtaining approximately 70.4% of the total votes. He is set to take the oath of office on September 14, which is just under two weeks after the election.
This marks a significant moment in Singapore’s political landscape as Shanmugaratnam assumes his new role.
