Populous (PPT) and Cortex (CTXC) Surge Following Bithumb Listing Announcement

Bithumb, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, announced on Friday that it will soon support two new cryptocurrencies: Populous (PPT) and Cortex (CTXC). The announcement resulted in significant price increases for both cryptocurrencies, with PPT surging over 38% and CTXC climbing nearly 55% within a day.

The South Korean exchange plans to list Populous and Cortex in trading pairs with the South Korean won. Trading for these cryptocurrencies will commence at 15:00 UTC next Thursday, which corresponds to midnight KST. To prepare for the launch, Bithumb will enable deposit functionality for both coins starting this Sunday at 15:00 UTC.

The exchange also stated, “Withdrawal service will be opened on August 24, 2018 (Fri).”

Bithumb made the listing announcement around 02:20 on Friday, leading to a notable spike in PPT’s price from $4.6.
