Google Seeks Dismissal of AI Data Scraping Class-Action Lawsuit
Google, a major player in the tech industry, is working to dismiss a proposed class-action lawsuit that alleges the company is infringing on the privacy and property rights of millions of internet users by using their data to train its artificial intelligence models.
On October 17, Google submitted a motion in a California District Court, asserting that the use of publicly available data is essential for training its AI chatbots, including Bard. The company maintained that the lawsuit’s claims are based on incorrect assumptions, arguing that it is not “stealing” information that is freely shared on the internet.
