U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is set to unveil new incentives aimed at enhancing domestic manufacturing, following remarks from her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, who stated he would focus on bringing factory jobs back to the United States if elected.
During her visit to Pennsylvania, a pivotal state in the upcoming presidential election on November 5, Harris will outline initiatives designed to strengthen her platform, which includes homebuyer subsidies, tax breaks for small businesses, and a federal prohibition on grocery price gouging.
The Vice President is also expected to discuss her strategy for collaborating with the private sector and entrepreneurs to expand the middle class in her speech scheduled for 3:15 PM ET at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh, as per a senior campaign official who opted to remain anonymous.
As Election Day nears, both candidates are emphasizing economic issues, which surveys indicate are voters’ primary concern. While Trump has suggested implementing broad tariffs on imported goods to achieve his objectives, a proposal that finds some support among voters, Harris is advocating for incentives that encourage businesses to maintain their operations within the United States.
Recent polling indicates that Harris has narrowed the gap with Trump regarding economic issues. A recent survey showed Trump holding a slight two-point advantage on matters related to the economy and jobs, a significant decrease from an eleven-point lead he had in late July.
Harris aims to position herself as the candidate best suited for the American middle class, drawing attention to her own background in comparison to Trump’s affluence. In her Wednesday remarks, she plans to highlight the disparity, stating, “For Donald Trump, our economy works best if it works for those who own the big skyscrapers. Not those who build them. Not those who wire them. Not those who mop the floors.”
