Bittrex Confused by 24M Stolen STEEM Tokens in Its Holdings
Recently, an unidentified entity “rescued” $5.7 million worth of STEEM tokens from a “New Steem” hard fork seizure, leading Bittrex to confirm that these funds have arrived in their account. The crypto exchange is now faced with a challenging decision regarding the fate of 23.6 million STEEM tokens that are reportedly taken from Steem witnesses.
In a statement made on May 21, Bittrex co-founder Richie Lai revealed that the identity of the transaction initiator, an account known as “community321,” remains unclear. Lai also noted that there are allegations suggesting that this account may have been compromised outside of Bittrex’s platform.
