IBM’s New AI Chip Delivers 22X Speed Increase with Remarkable Energy Efficiency

IBM recently introduced a new prototype artificial intelligence (AI) chip that claims to be significantly faster and more energy-efficient than any existing chip on the market.

Research published in Science Magazine on October 19 indicates that the new chip, named NorthPole, demonstrates an incredible 25-fold increase in energy efficiency on a specific benchmark and a 22-fold reduction in latency.
