“I’m Not Going to Be Promoting Crypto” by U Today
Serial tech entrepreneur Elon Musk recently participated in the X Takeover podcast, hosted by the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account, on his own social media platform. Segments of this podcast have been shared by various active members of the Dogecoin community.
During the episode, Musk addressed a question regarding his current views on cryptocurrency, as well as past comments made in YouTube videos where he discussed Bitcoin.
Musk’s Perspective on Bitcoin and Crypto Promotion
When asked about his thoughts on Bitcoin, Musk acknowledged that he sees "merit in Bitcoin and maybe some other cryptos." He expressed a particular fondness for Dogecoin, attributing it to his affection for "dogs and memes."
However, he clarified that he does not intend to promote any cryptocurrency, stating that the most he would do would be to make jokes about it. Musk warned that any videos appearing to show him endorsing cryptocurrencies should be considered deepfakes.
Following his comments, some prominent Dogecoin community accounts interpreted this as a form of lighthearted promotion for Dogecoin, sharing Musk’s quote along with various memes inspired by the animated film "The Lion King."
DOGE Remains Musk’s Preferred Cryptocurrency
Despite not posting about Dogecoin recently, Musk remains a strong supporter of the meme cryptocurrency, which is still accepted by Tesla and SpaceX for merchandise purchases. He continues to strategize the launch of the DOGE-1 moon mission.
In previous years, Musk’s tweets about Dogecoin had a substantial impact on its market price. However, this effect has diminished significantly over time. Recently, it was reported that his platform removed cryptocurrency-related hashmojies, which means they no longer appear when using crypto hashtags.
