Indonesia’s Central Bank Projects 2016 GDP Growth at 5.09 Percent: Governor, Reports Reuters

JAKARTA – The governor of Indonesia’s central bank indicated that the country’s economy is projected to grow by 5.09 percent in 2016, with an expected growth rate of 5.2 percent in the third quarter.

Bank Indonesia is set to announce its growth forecast for the April-June quarter on August 5, and the current outlook stands at 4.94 percent, according to Governor Agus Martowardojo.

He also mentioned that a successful tax amnesty program could boost economic growth in 2017. If the initiative succeeds in attracting sufficient capital flows, the central bank plans to utilize its capacity for monetary easing.
