Jordanian Armed Forces Take Down Drone Attempting to Cross Territory, State News Agency Reports
CAIRO – The Jordanian armed forces successfully intercepted a drone attempting to enter the nation’s airspace, according to reports from Jordan’s state news agency. Details regarding the drone’s origin have not been disclosed.
The military’s border guard units downed the drone, which has since been transferred to relevant authorities for further investigation. An official source from the army emphasized their commitment to addressing various security threats along the kingdom’s borders.
Jordan shares borders with Syria and Iraq, areas known for the presence of Iranian proxy forces, and it is also in close proximity to Israel and the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
This announcement follows allegations from Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, which accused Israel of initiating a series of explosions across Lebanon that resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals and injuries to nearly 3,000, including Iran’s representative in Beirut.
Earlier in April, Jordan had intercepted Iranian drones headed toward Israel. More recently, in September, a Jordanian gunman fatally shot three Israelis at the Allenby Bridge border crossing in the occupied West Bank before being killed by security forces.
