Judge Denies Sam Bankman-Fried’s Final Pretrial Request for Temporary Release
Former FTX CEO Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried will remain incarcerated at least until the beginning of his criminal trial on October 3, following a ruling from a federal judge.
During a hearing on September 28 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Judge Lewis Kaplan denied a motion from Bankman-Fried’s legal team, which sought temporary release for the former CEO to prepare for his trial. His attorneys have made several attempts to secure his release since Kaplan revoked his bail on August 11 due to accusations of witness intimidation. The case has been brought before an appellate court twice, but both times the attempts by Bankman-Fried’s team were unsuccessful.
