Kremlin Accuses Ukraine of ‘Playing with Fire’ Following Reported Attack Near Kursk Nuclear Plant, According to Reuters

Kremlin Warns Ukraine Over Alleged Drone Incident Near Nuclear Facility

Moscow – The Kremlin expressed serious concerns on Friday, accusing Ukrainian authorities of irresponsibly escalating tensions. This statement followed Russian reports of the interception of a Ukrainian drone near the Kursk nuclear power plant, along with news of a fire that reportedly occurred several miles from the site.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Kyiv’s actions are dangerously provocative and emphasized that Russia would inform representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations’ nuclear oversight body, about the situation.

In contrast, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi denied any claims that Ukraine had targeted or fired upon the nuclear facility.

On August 6, Ukrainian forces launched a surprising cross-border incursion into the Kursk region and have maintained their presence in the area even as Russian military efforts aim to drive them out.
