Kremlin: People Must Decide if Putin Really Wants Kamala Harris to Win, According to Reuters
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was questioned regarding President Vladimir Putin’s recent remarks supporting U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris. When asked if Putin’s comments were meant to be taken seriously or were intended as a joke, Peskov suggested that it was up to individuals to interpret the situation for themselves.
During an interview on Thursday, Putin expressed a preference for Harris over Donald Trump, mentioning her “infectious” laugh as a reason she might be less likely to impose sanctions on Russia. He appeared to be in a lighthearted mood while making these remarks, which have included several teasing comments about the U.S. election.
When queried about the seriousness of Putin’s statement, Peskov told reporters, “When he is asked about international affairs, he comments on them. As for his tone, people abroad who are interested must try to interpret that.”
Additionally, the White House responded on Thursday, urging Putin to refrain from commenting on the upcoming November election. Peskov further stated that Putin’s main focus was on the well-being of Russia, emphasizing that “American affairs cannot be, and are not, a concern that is at the top of the president’s agenda.”
