Toyota to Recall Over 42,000 Vehicles Due to Loss of Power Brake Assist, According to NHTSA Report

Toyota Motor Corp is recalling more than 42,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential loss of power brake assist, which could increase the distance needed to stop, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall specifically impacts certain 2023-2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid models. The issue stems from a software error in the electronic control unit responsible for managing vehicle behavior during skidding, which can lead to a reduction in braking assistance when navigating turns.

A decrease in power brake assist heightens the risk of an accident, as it can extend stopping distances.
