Mazda Recalls Over 77,000 MX-5 Sports Vehicles in the US, According to NHTSA
Mazda is recalling 77,670 sports cars in the U.S. due to a software issue that could cause front airbags to deploy with excessive force during a crash, as reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This recall affects certain MX-5 Miata models from 2016 to 2023.
Dealers will provide a free update to the airbag sensor control module software to resolve the issue.
Additionally, Stellantis’ Fiat brand has recalled over 15,000 units of its 124 Spider model, which shares a platform with the Miata, for the same concern.
