Mexico Stocks Close Lower; S&P/BMV IPC Decreases by 1.52%

Investing.com – Mexican stocks experienced a decline following Friday’s market closure, primarily driven by losses in various sectors.

At the end of the trading day in Mexico, the market index fell by 1.52%.

Among the session’s top performers was Grupo Televisa SAB Unit, which surged by 3.51% or 0.33 points, closing at 9.73. Additionally, Alsea, S.A.B. De C.V. gained 2.57% or 1.36 points, finishing at 54.33. America Movil SAB de CV M also saw a rise of 1.13% or 0.18 points, ending the day at 16.18.

Conversely, the worst performers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV, which dropped by 7.27% or 21.24 points, closing at 271.11. GCC SAB de CV fell 4.02% or 6.18 points to finish at 147.58, while Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV decreased by 3.27% or 5.05 points, ending at 149.17.

On the Mexico Stock Exchange, advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by 148 to 92, with 19 stocks remaining unchanged.

In commodities, Gold Futures for December delivery fell by 0.52% or 14.00, settling at $2,680.90 per troy ounce. In contrast, Crude oil for November delivery rose by 1.43% or 0.97, trading at $68.64 per barrel. The December Brent oil contract also increased by 1.28% or 0.91, reaching $72.00 per barrel.

The USD/MXN currency pair increased by 0.49%, reaching 19.71, while EUR/MXN saw a rise of 0.24% to 22.00.

The US Dollar Index Futures dropped by 0.10%, settling at 100.15.
