Mystery Account ‘Rescues’ $6M of STEEM From Hard Fork Seizure
As part of the ongoing Steem saga, the Steem (STEEM) network underwent another hard fork today. This update, dubbed "New Steem," was implemented to address the “constant attacks from malicious accounts,” although it seems to have fallen short of its goals.
The hard fork, version 0.23, had two main objectives. The first was to shorten the power-down period for users from 13 weeks to four weeks. The second was to reclaim 23.6 million STEEM tokens from accounts and stakeholders linked to the rebel Hive blockchain that emerged from the Steem network.
