US States All-Out War Is Not the Solution for Bringing People Back to Homes in Northern Israel, Reuters Reports

Israel’s Challenges in Northern Security: U.S. Perspective

According to White House national security spokesperson John Kirby, Israel will not effectively restore safety to the northern regions through an all-out war with Hezbollah or Iran. Kirby made these comments following Israel’s targeted strikes in Lebanon, which escalated after the death of Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. The Israeli government aims to secure its northern territories from Hezbollah rocket attacks to facilitate the safe return of displaced residents.

Kirby emphasized the need for a diplomatic solution rather than military conflict: "If you want to get those folks back home safely and sustainably, we believe that a diplomatic path is the right course." The United States, a long-time ally of Israel, continues to provide significant military support.

The U.S. is closely monitoring Hezbollah’s actions amid the leadership changes within the organization and is in ongoing discussions with Israel regarding appropriate next steps.

Recent reports from Lebanon’s Health Ministry reveal that over 1,000 people have died and around 6,000 have been injured in the past two weeks, with approximately one million citizens—about a fifth of the population—fleeing their homes.

Kirby acknowledged differences in tactical perspectives regarding civilian protection but reaffirmed unwavering U.S. support for Israel’s security. As for Iran, the country has stated it will defend its national interests while calling for a United Nations Security Council meeting to address Israel’s military actions. Kirby remarked on the ongoing rhetoric from Tehran and indicated that the U.S. will be vigilant regarding Iran’s forthcoming moves.
