PITTSBURGH – Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris expressed her appreciation on Saturday for the endorsements she received from former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz, a former U.S. Representative. Harris described their support as "courageous" for prioritizing the well-being of the nation over party allegiance.
Harris was in Pittsburgh gearing up for the upcoming debate against her Republican opponent Donald Trump, as both candidates vie for the November 5 election.
"I’m honored to have their endorsement," Harris remarked at a local spice shop, where she took a break from her debate preparations to interact with customers and purchase spices. She emphasized that the Cheneys are sending a vital message by highlighting the importance of placing the country above political parties.
Dick Cheney, who served as vice president under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009, declared on Friday that "in our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump."
Liz Cheney also publicly announced her support for Harris, labeling Trump as a "danger."
In response, Trump disparaged Dick Cheney as an "irrelevant RINO" alongside his daughter in a social media post, using the term "Republicans in Name Only" to describe those he perceives as disloyal to him.
