Norway Stocks Rise at Market Close; Oslo OBX Up 0.85%

Norwegian stocks saw an uptick following the market close on Thursday, driven by gains across various sectors.

By the end of trading in Oslo, the main index increased by 0.85%.

The standout performers for the day were Yara International ASA, which experienced a rise of 4.66%, gaining 14.50 points to close at 325.90. Nordic Semiconductor ASA followed closely with a 4.55% increase, up 6.05 points to finish at 138.95, while Norsk Hydro ASA saw a 3.47% boost, adding 2.10 points to reach 62.70.

In contrast, the day’s laggards included Telenor ASA, which fell by 1.99% or 2.70 points closing at 132.80. Equinor ASA declined by 1.39%, losing 3.70 points to end at 262.00, and Orkla ASA was down by 1.18%, losing 1.15 points to finish at 96.60.

Overall, the Oslo Stock Exchange recorded 176 advancing stocks against 109 declining ones, with 26 remaining unchanged.

In the commodities market, crude oil for November delivery rose by 0.89%, reaching $70.50 per barrel. Brent oil for the same month also increased by 0.84%, hitting $74.27 per barrel. Additionally, December Gold Futures were up by 0.28%, trading at $2,605.80 per troy ounce.

In the currency market, the EUR/NOK exchange rate dropped by 0.63% to 11.70, while USD/NOK decreased by 0.67% to 10.52. The US Dollar Index Futures saw an increase of 0.33%, settling at 100.61.
