Survey: Brexit Impact on North America, Middle East, and CIS States Minimal, According to Reuters

BRELIN (Reuters) – The United Kingdom’s decision to exit the European Union is anticipated to have negative repercussions for both the UK and EU member nations, particularly impacting Ireland. However, North America, the Middle East, and the Russia-led Commonwealth of Independent States are expected to remain largely unaffected, according to a survey.

On Monday, Germany’s Ifo Institute disclosed results from a poll conducted among 762 economic experts across 112 countries, indicating that the immediate adverse effects of Brexit are likely to be most severe for the EU15 countries.

The EU15 refers to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.

Ifo indicated that in the medium term, projected over the next three to five years, all EU member states will likely experience economic slowdowns. Additionally, the survey mentioned that Commonwealth nations (excluding the UK) could see modest negative economic impacts in both the short and medium term.

The survey took place between July 1 and July 27.
