US Did Not Provide Iraq Pre-Notification of Friday Strikes – State Dept
The United States did not provide advance notice to Iraq regarding strikes conducted on Friday against three militant sites within its borders, according to State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel. He indicated that Iraq was informed immediately following the strikes.
“Iraq, like every country in the region, understood that there would be a response after the deaths of our soldiers. Regarding this specific response on Friday, there was no pre-notification. We communicated with the Iraqis right after the strikes occurred,” Patel stated to reporters.
On the other hand, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby had communicated earlier that the U.S. had given Iraq prior notice before the strikes.
