Harris Holds Narrow Lead Over Trump in Swing States, Bloomberg Poll Reveals

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, is currently enjoying a slim lead over her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, in six key U.S. swing states and is tied in a seventh, according to a recent poll conducted by Bloomberg.

The leads Harris holds in various states fall within the poll’s statistical margin of error, indicating that the outcome of the November 5 election could be extremely close. The survey reveals that Harris is leading by 7 percentage points in Nevada, 5 points in Pennsylvania, and 3 points in Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin. In North Carolina, her lead is 2 points, while the two candidates are tied in Georgia.

Overall, across these seven states, Harris boasts a 3-point lead among likely voters, an increase of 2 points compared to last month. Notably, about 47% of likely voters believe she will win, regardless of their personal support for her, in contrast to approximately 40% who think Trump will emerge victorious.

Additionally, a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll indicated that Trump’s campaign promise to raise tariffs on imported goods resonates with a narrow majority of voters, signifying an economic edge over Harris. A separate poll by The New York Times revealed Trump holds a slight advantage in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina.

While Trump still leads Harris in voters’ perceptions regarding economic management, that margin is shrinking; his lead has decreased from 6 points in August to just 4 points now. On immigration issues, Trump benefits from a 14-point trust edge among likely voters, despite having made a baseless claim during a recent debate regarding Haitian immigrants in Ohio.

The Bloomberg poll was conducted online with a sample of 6,165 registered voters from the seven swing states between September 19 and September 25, with 5,692 identified as likely voters. The overall statistical margin of error is plus or minus 1 percentage point for registered and likely voters, with specific margins for individual states ranging from 3 to 4 points.
