Panasonic and IBM Collaborate with Constellation Network to Launch DoD-Vetted “Blockchain of Blockchains” in Global Hackathon

San Francisco, USA/California, July 15, 2024 — Chainwire

Web3 and Web2 developers can now start building on Constellation Network’s much-anticipated Hypergraph distributed ledger technology, which has been in development for several years through various projects with the US Department of Defense.

The Constellation Global Metagraph Hackathon is a completely virtual event, free to participate in, running from July 15 to September 9, 2024. A total of $100,000 equivalent in $DAG, Constellation Network’s cryptocurrency, will be awarded to winners across multiple categories related to metagraph development and on-chain tools, with a top prize of $25,000 for the most outstanding Metagraph.

With this Hackathon, Constellation officially introduces its “metagraph” application layer technology, which operates on top of its Hypergraph global consensus layer. A metagraph can represent any Layer 1 decentralized application (dApp) network or established Web2 network that has its own internal business logic. Other blockchains can also serve as metagraphs built on Constellation’s Hypergraph.

“Constellation’s Hypergraph is the blockchain of blockchains,” states Ben Jorgensen, CEO of Constellation Network. “The way forward for Web3 and blockchain technology relies on interoperability and collaboration across different chains and communities. Many of us are constructing networks capable of supporting decentralized AI, tokenized assets, IoT edge computing, decentralized finance, and a variety of other Web3 innovations. The Hypergraph technology allows for linking these networks, ensuring interoperability and providing the foundational infrastructure needed to secure their networks and validate data flows.”

Constellation is collaborating with notable partners including Panasonic, IBM, SIMBA Chain, and the National DigiFoundry—comprising members from organizations such as the US National Science Foundation and US Space Force—to foster the development of pioneering metagraph technologies that enhance interoperability in unprecedented ways.

The Hypergraph network is designed with a unique DAG-based infrastructure and microservices, establishing a digital transfer layer that allows for flexible structural and application network overlays (metagraphs). This setup supports interoperability and composability across both Web3 and traditional Web2 networks, providing essential security, data validation, scalability, and streamlined onboarding necessary for business and government adoption.

“Interoperability” signifies the need for multiple networks to communicate with each other, similar to a smart factory or city where diverse IoT networks interact and share data, with each operating a unique metagraph over the overarching Hypergraph.

“I’ve eagerly anticipated this year since we began our journey,” says Benjamin Diggles, Chief Strategy Officer. “Enabling developer-friendly and publicly accessible blockchain tools has always been our vision. This hackathon marks the start of exploring the numerous opportunities metagraphs present, and the possibilities are truly limitless. I am grateful for our dedicated team and the partners who helped bring this vision to fruition.”

Constellation’s metagraphs are versatile, capable of interfacing with any data type, directly connecting with external data sources, utilizing existing Scala or Java libraries, and offering complete control over validation and consensus logic. They can scale according to application demands through a multilayered microservice architecture.

“This hackathon represents more than a mere competition. It serves as an invitation for developers worldwide to lead the charge in creating the next generation of decentralized applications, potentially transforming the digital landscape,” says Altif Brown, Global Community Architect at Constellation.

Judging

Submissions for the Hackathon will be evaluated from September 16-23, 2024, with winners announced around September 30. Judging will include experts from various fields, such as former CTOs, members of the U.S. Space Force, and leaders from Constellation Network itself.

Participants can register and find complete event details and resources through official channels.
