Poland Reports Two Additional Deaths Amid Central Europe Floods – Reuters

WARSAW (Reuters) – The number of fatalities from significant floods in southwestern Poland this month has risen to nine, as authorities reported the discovery of two additional bodies during recovery efforts.

Across central Europe, at least 26 individuals have lost their lives due to the worst flooding the region has experienced in over two decades.

The floods caused widespread devastation from Romania to Poland, leaving behind mud and debris in towns, demolishing bridges, submerging vehicles, and generating damages that will likely total billions of dollars for both local governments and residents.

According to Polish police, the clean-up operations in Klodzko County and Nysa County led to the recovery of two bodies. They indicated that identification processes are currently underway, and preliminary assessments suggest these may be the eighth and ninth victims of the flood-affected areas.
