Polestar Appoints Volvo EV Propulsion Expert as New CTO

Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar has appointed Lutz Stiegler, formerly the head of electric propulsion at Volvo, as its new chief technology officer, succeeding Joerg Brandscheid.

Stiegler brings over 25 years of experience in automotive technology, having spent the last decade leading electric propulsion at Volvo. In this role, he was responsible for the development of all software and hardware associated with the company’s electric powertrains.

Prior to his tenure at Volvo, Stiegler spent nearly twenty years at the German engineering firm IAV, where he rose to the position of Vice President of Powertrain Development.

“Performance and innovation are key elements in Polestar’s vehicles,” remarked Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “Lutz will spearhead the advancement of these qualities with his extensive expertise in battery electric vehicle technology and in-depth understanding of e-powertrains.”

Stiegler’s new role will commence on December 1st. Following the announcement, shares of Polestar experienced a 7.03% increase in afternoon trading on Tuesday.
