U.S. Stocks Rise at Market Close; Dow Jones Industrial Average Up 0.20%

U.S. stock markets closed higher on Tuesday, driven by gains in various sectors.

The NYSE saw the index rise by 0.20%, reaching a new all-time high, while the S&P 500 increased by 0.25%, and the NASDAQ Composite gained 0.57%.

Among the standout performers on the NYSE was Caterpillar Inc, which surged 3.98%, adding 14.76 points to end at 385.93. Dow Inc also performed well, up 2.71% with an increase of 1.41 points to finish at 53.45, and Salesforce Inc rose 2.37%, gaining 6.27 points to reach 270.48.

Conversely, the worst performers included Visa Inc Class A, which declined by 5.44%, losing 15.70 points to close at 272.93. Amgen Inc fell 1.40%, down 4.69 points to finish at 330.92, and Microsoft Corporation dropped 1.00%, losing 4.34 points to end at 429.17.

In the S&P 500, top performers included Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc, which climbed 7.93% to reach 48.72, Estee Lauder Companies Inc, which gained 6.09% to settle at 91.98, and Las Vegas Sands Corp, which rose 5.34% to close at 44.38.

On the downside, Global Payments Inc fell 6.46% to 103.81, Visa Inc Class A lost 5.44% to settle at 272.93, and McKesson Corporation was down 4.85%, trading at 480.49.

The NASDAQ Composite saw significant gains from Onconetix Inc, which skyrocketed 5,112.40% to 3.87, Beasley Broadcast Group Inc, up 2,031.58% to 10.13, and Maison Solutions Inc, which rose 115.86% to close at 1.59.

The worst performers were Biovie Inc, down 57.86% to 1.18, Focus Universal Inc, which fell 28.97% to settle at 0.23, and Expion360 Inc, down 24.44% to 0.09.

Overall, advancing stocks outpaced decliners on the New York Stock Exchange by 1,694 to 1,090, while 104 remained unchanged. On the NASDAQ, 1,713 stocks rose against 1,550 that fell, with 136 unchanged.

Caterpillar Inc’s shares reached all-time highs, while Biovie Inc’s fell to all-time lows.

The Cboe Volatility Index, which tracks the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, declined 3.15% to 15.39.

In commodity trading, gold futures for December delivery increased by 1.31%, or 34.75, to reach $2,687.25 per troy ounce. Crude oil for November delivery also rose, gaining 1.68%, or 1.18, to hit $71.55 per barrel, while December Brent oil rose 1.72%, or 1.26, closing at $74.47 per barrel.

In the currency markets, the EUR/USD pair increased by 0.60% to 1.12, and the USD/JPY pair fell by 0.29% to 143.18. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 100.05.
