Satoshi-Era Whale Suddenly Awakens as Bitcoin Creator’s Identity Nears Revelation
A notable cryptocurrency transaction monitoring service, Whale Alert, has reported that a dormant whale, inactive for over a decade, has suddenly become active again. Recently, this large holder transferred 100 BTC from the old address “17tdW8” to a new address “bc1qqy6.”
Originally purchased 11 years ago for approximately $91,940, this amount of Bitcoin is now valued at an impressive $6.12 million.
This situation exemplifies the remarkable success of this long-term Bitcoin (BTC) investor, showcasing a staggering 6,656% return. When viewed over the entire period since early 2014, the annualized return stands at an impressive 665.6%.
It remains uncertain why the wallet, which had been inactive for so long, has resumed activity. Speculations range from the possibility that the owner recalled their seed phrase to the idea that the early investor opted to transfer funds to a new wallet. This new wallet is better suited for smaller transactions, is compatible with SegWit, and is designed with future usability in mind.
Interestingly, this transaction coincided with the announcement of an upcoming HBO series that will delve into the mystery surrounding Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic figure behind cryptocurrency. Scheduled to air on October 8, the show promises to reveal Nakamoto’s true identity, although whether this claim will hold true remains to be seen. The timing of these events has certainly captured attention.
