SEC Delays Ethereum ETF Decisions, Extends Bitcoin ETF Decision Timeline to 2024
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed its decisions on exchange-traded funds (ETFs) proposed by Ark Invest, 21Shares, and VanEck under Section 19(b)(2) of the Act. Originally anticipated in mid-October, the commission’s decisions have now been delayed until December 25 and 26, 2023, for the proposals from Ark Invest and 21Shares as well as VanEck, respectively. As of Thursday, there have been no comments received on these Nasdaq-listed proposals.
This delay follows an earlier postponement regarding a spot ETF decision. The SEC has also extended the deadline for the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF to January 10, 2024.
Meanwhile, Ethereum is trading at $1,599 as of Thursday. Several companies, including VanEck with its Strategy Ethereum ETF, are expected to secure approval for an Ethereum Futures ETF by October.
