Ukraine Dismantles Arsenal in Russia’s Tver Region, According to Kyiv Security Source – Reuters

KYIV (Reuters) – A Ukrainian drone strike has reportedly destroyed a warehouse in Russia’s Tver region that was storing missiles, guided bombs, and artillery ammunition, according to a source from Ukraine’s SBU state security service.

The attack resulted in an "extremely powerful detonation" at a large storage facility belonging to the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defence located in the town of Toropets. The warehouse stored various types of missiles, including those designed for Iskander and Tochka-U tactical missile systems, as well as guided aerial bombs and artillery shells.

Following the drone strike, a fire spread across an area of approximately six kilometers (3.7 miles), as reported by the source. Firefighters were on the scene attempting to contain the fire, although the regional governor did not specify the exact materials that were ablaze.

Earlier reports from war bloggers and media outlets indicated that the drone assault triggered a significant explosion, which led to a partial evacuation of residents living near the Russian arsenal.

The SBU source further stated that Ukraine’s armed forces are continuing their systematic efforts to diminish the missile capabilities of the Russian military, which are being utilized in attacks against Ukrainian cities.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, both sides have denied targeting civilians in the ongoing conflict.
