Sovereign Nature Initiative Launches DOTphin on Polkadot at Token 2049
Visitors to Token 2049 in Singapore will have the chance to collect digital avatars through the DOTphin project, a collaboration involving the Sovereign Nature Initiative (SNI), Unique Network, and WalletConnect.
Attendees at the designated booth can claim Proof of Presence (PoP) tokens, which will unlock the evolution stages of their DOTphin avatars. These avatars are influenced by real-time ecological data and are connected to marine conservation efforts.
Driven by dynamic NFTs, DOTphin aims to heighten event engagement while creating a tangible ecological impact, transforming participation into an interactive experience. Supported by the Polkadot community through OpenGov, the project was first introduced at Polkadot Decoded 2024.
DOTphin combines blockchain technology with environmental impact, allowing participants to engage with NFTs while supporting real-world conservation efforts. By interacting with the DOTphin avatars, users contribute to marine preservation using data provided by SNI’s partner, Aquasearch.
SNI CEO Catherine Bischoff remarked, “Through DOTphin, we have pioneered a groundbreaking approach to merge community engagement and the protection of our natural world by connecting digital collectibles with living entities. We add meaning to virtual realms by distributing dynamic assets that are verifiably making real-world impact.”
Participants can claim their avatars by visiting the SNI booth or scanning QR codes at the event. Once collected, avatars can be evolved through the REAL portal, where each user’s collected PoPs will influence the growth and appearance of their DOTphin.
The avatars are designed with inspiration from Japanese anime to foster a meaningful connection between users and their digital companions.
Polkadot Decoded Asia took place on September 16-17, 2024, in Singapore as part of TOKEN2049 Week, showcasing the Polkadot ecosystem and significant developments within the Web 3.0 landscape, with substantial preparations leading up to the event.
Despite facing market challenges, developer activity within the Polkadot ecosystem remains robust. Recent statistics reveal that the network hosts nearly 30,000 repositories, with weekly commits surpassing 5,500. Approximately 900 developers contribute each week, keeping the momentum of the ecosystem alive.
