CBDC Frameworks Must Protect User Privacy and Monetary Freedom, Says BIS Chief
Legal frameworks that protect user privacy and provide the option to select between central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and alternative forms of money will be crucial for the successful adoption of CBDCs, according to the head of the Bank of International Settlements.
During his address at the BIS Innovation Hub conference held in Switzerland on September 27, BIS general manager Agustín Carstens emphasized that developing robust legal frameworks is essential for the advancement and widespread implementation of CBDCs globally.
