HELSINKI (Reuters) – In the run-off of Finland’s presidential election on Sunday, Alexander Stubb from the National Coalition Party secured 52.7% of the votes cast in advance, according to data from the justice ministry.
Pekka Haavisto, a member of the liberal Green Party, trailed with 47.3% support as 58.3% of the ballots were counted.
This run-off follows the initial round of voting held on January 28, where Stubb emerged victorious and Haavisto placed second. No candidate achieved the required majority of over 50% for direct election in that round.
