Italian Designer Alberta Ferretti Steps Down as Creative Director of Her Brand
Milan – Italian designer Alberta Ferretti will be stepping down as the creative director of her namesake brand after 43 years, as announced by the fashion group Aeffe on Tuesday.
The new creative director for the Alberta Ferretti brand is expected to be revealed in the coming months. However, Ferretti will continue to serve as the vice president of Aeffe.
"I believe that at this point in my career, it is the right and conscious choice to pave the way for a new creative chapter for the brand I founded, which will continue to bear my name," Ferretti stated.
The spring-summer collection showcased during Milan Fashion Week last week was the last to feature her signature.
In the first half of the year, the Alberta Ferretti brand constituted approximately 7% of the group’s total revenues. Despite this, Aeffe, which also owns other brands such as Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Moschino, and Pollini, is facing challenges in revitalizing its sales and profitability.
The family-run group reported a net loss of 20 million euros in the first six months of the year, with revenues declining by 15% year-on-year.
"Aeffe will undertake a careful and thorough analysis of the roles and functions within its various departments, aiming to reorganize its human resources to ensure greater efficiency," the group added.
Following the announcement, Aeffe’s shares rose by 3.4%.
