Ecuador Police Destroy Over 20 Metric Tons of Cocaine, Reports Reuters
Ecuadorian police announced the destruction of approximately 21.5 metric tons of cocaine on Thursday. This seizure was part of a military initiative launched by the government to tackle organized crime.
The narcotics were discovered over the weekend stored in numerous blocks beneath a pig farm in the city of Vinces. One individual was apprehended at the location.
In the destruction process, authorities utilized a method called encapsulation, which involves pulverizing the seized cocaine blocks with waste materials. The resulting fine powder is then mixed with cement, sand, and glass, ensuring that the substance cannot be reclaimed or contaminate the surrounding environment.
