Timing of BOJ Policy Change Should Align with Japan’s Broader Goals, Economy Minister Says
Japan’s new economy minister, Ryosei Akazawa, stated on Friday that any adjustments to the Bank of Japan’s monetary policy should coincide with the government’s overarching objective of overcoming deflation.
During a press conference, Akazawa emphasized the significance of timing regarding monetary policy changes. He noted, “It’s crucial that these changes align with our policy priorities, such as moving away from deflation and fostering growth in wages and investments.”
He also mentioned that Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda share his perspective on this matter.
