U.S. Stocks Mixed at Market Close; Dow Jones Industrial Average Rises 0.33%

U.S. stock markets exhibited a mixed performance after Friday’s trading session, with advancements in several sectors driving some shares higher, while others faced declines in different sectors.

At the end of the trading day on the NYSE, one index increased by 0.33%, achieving a new all-time high. Conversely, another index experienced a drop of 0.13%, and a third index fell by 0.40%.

Among the notable performers was Chevron Corp, which saw its shares rise by 2.47%, translating to a gain of 3.50 points, bringing its closing price to 145.49. Visa Class A followed closely behind with a 1.28% increase, or a rise of 3.48 points, closing at 275.17. UnitedHealth Group also gained, finishing up 1.22%, or 7.04 points, reaching a price of 581.85.

On the downside, Amazon.com Inc reported a decline of 1.67%, dropping 3.19 points to close at 187.97. 3M Company saw its shares fall by 1.53%, down by 2.14 points to a closing price of 137.30, while International Business Machines witnessed a decrease of 1.16%, losing 2.59 points to close at 220.84.

In the S&P 500 index, Wynn Resorts Limited emerged as a top performer, soaring 7.26% to reach 97.64. Walgreens Boots Alliance experienced a notable gain of 6.34%, finishing at 9.06, and APA Corporation climbed 5.96% to close at 24.53.

However, Globe Life Inc faced difficulties, with shares down by 4.74% to 104.40. Universal Health Services dropped 4.07%, closing at 229.92, and HP Inc saw a decline of 3.91%, ending at 35.41.

Among the NASDAQ Composite, NLS Pharmaceutics AG saw an extraordinary increase of 4,060.00%, closing at 5.20. Seelos Therapeutics Inc surged by 1,146.01% to reach 3.90, while Uxin Ltd gained 83.75%, closing at 5.20.

Meanwhile, the worst performers in the NASDAQ included Intchains Group Ltd ADR, which fell by 43.99% to 4.75, Edible Garden AG declined by 37.63% to settle at 0.29, and enVVeno Medical Corp dropped by 28.00%, closing at 3.24.

On the NYSE, advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1,758 to 1,022, with 104 remaining unchanged. In the NASDAQ, 1,962 stocks rose, while 1,306 declined, and 120 were unchanged.

NLS Pharmaceutics AG reached a three-year high, while Intchains Group Ltd ADR hit all-time lows. Edible Garden AG also fell to unprecedented lows, as did enVVeno Medical Corp, which experienced 52-week lows.

The index reflecting implied volatility for S&P 500 options increased by 10.34%, reaching 16.96.

In commodities trading, December gold futures decreased by 0.70%, dropping $18.90 to $2,676.00 per troy ounce. Crude oil for November delivery rose by 1.39%, gaining $0.94 to hit $68.61 per barrel, while December Brent oil increased by 1.20%, or $0.85, to trade at $71.94 per barrel.

In the currency markets, EUR/USD remained relatively stable, up by 0.09% to 1.12, while USD/JPY fell by 1.83% to 142.15. The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.13%, settling at 100.12.
