Russia’s Military Drone Production Increasing, According to Defence Minister

Russian Defence Minister Highlights Increased Military Drone Production

Moscow – In a recent statement, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu announced significant progress in the country’s military drone production over the past year, although he acknowledged that some technical challenges persist.

Throughout the nearly two-year military campaign in Ukraine, Russia has frequently deployed drones, often relying on economical Iranian-made Shahed models. Shoigu emphasized the advancements in production capabilities, asserting that they now enable the military to address most current tasks effectively.

During a visit to drone manufacturing facilities in the Volga region of Udmurtia, Shoigu discussed the ongoing need to resolve issues related to artificial intelligence and electronic warfare technologies in drone operations.

Additionally, Moscow has been signaling a ramp-up in its military industrial output in recent months, aiming to overcome an extended period of stagnation in the conflict in Ukraine. Ukrainian military leaders have indicated that drones will be crucial for securing an advantage, while analysts observe that the extensive use of such technology by both sides complicates ground troop maneuvers.
