US OCC to Host Discussion on Tokenization of Real-World Assets
The United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), an independent bureau within the U.S. Treasury Department that supervises national commercial banks, is set to host a symposium on tokenization in February 2024.
This event aims to spark a public discussion on the transformative potential of tokenizing real-world financial assets and liabilities. It will emphasize the importance of creating a foundation for “responsible innovation.” In a recent press release, Acting Comptroller Michael Hsu noted the growing distinction between cryptocurrency and the tokenization of tangible assets and liabilities.
