Two Men Shot in Separate Incidents in Londonderry, Northern Ireland: Police Reports

Two men were shot in what police described as “paramilitary style attacks” around 8 p.m. in the Ballymagroarty area of Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

The police department expressed concern, stating, “Innocent residents shouldn’t have to worry about criminal thugs shooting people outside their homes.”

This incident follows a car bomb explosion outside a courthouse in Londonderry on January 19. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the blast, which was later claimed by a group identifying itself as the “IRA.”

These events underscore the ongoing threat posed by militant groups that oppose the 1998 peace agreement, which largely brought an end to three decades of violence in the British-run region.
